I wish this helpful for you There is a known bug which causes problems with jdbc connections using hostnames. Try using an Ip address instead.
Bizarre, but true.. I lost almost 2 days with this bug....

I hope this helps you . Maybe better way would be just edit error page template in /errors/default/report.phtml to inform customers about problems. It will also show Your content when any php error will occur.

it helps some times Try this script which tests your connection and reports the actual MySQL error. It might be useful to determine whether the credentials you were given will work, or which part of the process is failing. Since you are using it on a remote webhost I recommend you hard-code the database username and password to avoid passing them in clear over the open Internet.
(Note: Not my own work - script comes from webune.com)

like below fixes the issue Are you using localhost as your database host? I ran into this problem previously and the fix was to use 127.0.0.1 instead.
I would also check your .htaccess file in detail as the error on Firefox seem to suggest an infinite loop in your rewrite/redirect. Perhaps try disable the mod_rewrite part of your .htaccess.

may help you . First of all, check your database user name and password. Before you proceed to this step, you should have already set up the database in MySQL. You need to create a user and grant access privileges to that user.
Then check your MySQL server configuration. The default port number is 3306. However, your system admin might change it to something else. Or if you are using software packages such as MAMP/WAMP, the port number may be set to something other than 3306. In these cases, you need to explicitly put the port number in the Host field.
