Expose C# console application functionality via COM

Hope that helps Neither the CLR nor COM actually care that your program is an EXE file instead of a DLL. Assemblies are located by their display name, that name does not include the filename extension. The CLR first looks for a file with the same name as the display name with .exe appended, then tries .dll
So using Regasm.exe is fine, it will get loaded just like a DLL at runtime. Only differences are that your Main() method will not run. And you won't get the console window, you of course don't want one. And your [ComVisible] classes must be public, not strictly necessary when you use them in the EXE program.

How to expose functionality to PowerShell from within your application

How to expose functionality to PowerShell from within your application

Hope this helps There are multiple ways to leverage PowerShell in a custom application. The beauty of the PowerShell Automation engine is that you don't have to deal with handling parameters, formatting output, and bunch of other PITA things that you would have to handle yourself. To throw an object down the pipeline in PowerShell, you override the ProcessRecord Method and call WriteObject
code :
protected override void ProcessRecord()
  // Get the current processes
  Process[] processes = Process.GetProcesses();

  // Write the processes to the pipeline making them available
  // to the next cmdlet. The second parameter of this call tells
  // PowerShell to enumerate the array, and send one process at a
  // time to the pipeline.
  WriteObject(processes, true);

Hope this helps Arkaitz, the answer no, because of how you've phrased the question.
You ask for "another option to reuse all those ancient and good working tools directly in my code and not having to invoke them through a shell"
Using Cython to expose functionality to another application

Using Cython to expose functionality to another application

will help you I think the solution is to use both. Let me explain.
Cython makes it convenient to make a fast plugin using python but inconvenient (if at all possible) to make the right "kind" of DLL. You would probably have to use the standalone mode so that the necessary python runtime is included and then mess with the generated c code so an appropriate DLL gets compiled.

Any of those help Currently you can do this in your app with some library like this: http://www.seabreezecomputers.com/tips/find.htm
In current node-webkit there is no native UI to support this feature, but we'll see it in future if it has advantage.

should help you out The only reason you would need a console application would be if you actually needed a console interface. It doesn't sound like that's the case—the interface will be written in WinForms. Therefore, you don't actually need two separate applications. You can combine all the necessary functionality in a single executable.
The way to do this is by checking for command-line parameters that indicate whether the app should run interactively or headless. Probably, what you'll want to do is make the app run interactively when no command-line parameters are passed. This would be the normal case, the situation the user gets into when they double-click your app to launch it from Explorer.
