Weblogic hostname verification anomalies

I wish did fix the issue. After a while I have found the solution of the problem I was encountering. The problem was that I thought that changing stuff in the admin console would be saved and loaded every time I started the server, but the truth is, it is not. I had to add the following line to the startWebLogic.cmd script: "set JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS% -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true" and this worked. Now the server starts as it should, and it always skips the verification as I wanted. There are no anomalies!

it should still fix some issue It turns out that Android apps can use either the JRE's or the Apache HttpClient's hostname verification. In the former case, the verification is in X509TrustManagerImpl.java. In the latter case it is in AbstractVerifier.java

To fix the issue you can do If this is an issue with wildcards in the certificate name (e.g. weblogic default verifier doesn't think the certificate for *.salesforce.com covers cs86.salesforce.com), WebLogic actually provides a custom verifier to use: weblogic.security.utils.SSLWLSWildcardHostnameVerifier. This value should be entered in the SSL configuration for the server in Console -> Servers -> {Server Name} -> SSL -> Advanced -> Custom Hostname Verifier

hop of those help? Hostname verification isn't part of SSL. It is part of HTTPS. You're investigating the wrong layer and the wrong APIs. You should be looking into HttpURLConnection and HostnameVerifier.
