I hope this helps you . you can not make it in the UI thread
Here is an example using AsyncTask
code :
EditText host   = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText);
    EditText port   = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText2);
    EditText community   = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText3);

    String url = "http://192.168.0.102/za/getstatus.php?host=" + host.getText().toString() + "&port=" + port.getText().toString() + "&com=" + community.getText().toString() + "&oid=" + 2 + "&port1=" + 2;

    new Task(url).execute();

    }

    class Task extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, HttpResponse>{
        private String url;

        Task(String url) {
            this.url = url;
        }

        @Override
        protected HttpResponse doInBackground(Void... voids) {
            HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient();

            // Prepare a request object
            HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(url);

            try {
                return httpclient.execute(httpPost);

            } catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
                // writing exception to log
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (IOException e) {
                // writing exception to log
                e.printStackTrace();
            return null;
        }

        @Override
        protected void onPostExecute(HttpResponse httpResponse) {
            super.onPostExecute(httpResponse);
            if(httpResponse != null){
                Log.d("Http Response:", response.toString());
            }
        }
    }

hope this fix your issue so it was a schoolboy error on my part. I have an interceptor that handles 401/403 authentication errors and redirects to the login page.
This was the part that was at fault, didn't realise I had this interceptor as it was added near to the beginning of the development

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I am developing a project on ionic v3. HttpClientModule is already imported in app.module.ts but the error persists. , import module in imports array
code :
imports: [
   BrowserModule,
   HttpClientModule,
   IonicModule.forRoot(MyApp)
],
import { HttpClient } from '@angular/common/http';

constructor(public http: HttpClient) {
    console.log('Hello AuthServiceProvider Provider');
}

Any of those help First, you should dispose your HttpResponseMessage, as you have in your answer, but not in the original question.
The most likely issue, though, is your use of DefaultRequestHeaders. You should only use this for headers that apply to every request that the HttpClient instance will send, and then you should set them only once, when you create the client, as the documentation implies ("Headers set on this property don't need to be set on request messages again").
