Append to array in localForage

Append to array in localForage

This might help you I realize this is an old question, but thought I would provide some info. Per NatureShade's point, you can't edit the value in the localForage table, you can only pull the item, and set it. What I typically do for frequently changing variables/objects when using localForage is to have a global variable set for that item. When making changes I just update the global variable and then update the item in storage. The nice thing about this is you only have to worry about setting the localForage key/value, and don't have to mess with the asynchronous aspect as much. You also have a variable that you can always reference for this info as well, so you don't have to use .getItem all the time to access it. Having a global variable may not be the best practice, but it is an option.
code :
var globalObject;
localforage.getItem('documents', function(err, value){
    globalObject = value;
}

var obj = ...;
globalObject.push(obj);
localforage.setItem('documents', value);

var obj2 = ...;
globalObject.push(obj2);
localforage.setItem('documents', value);

help you fix your problem For me installing it through bower and using it with browserify-shim worked. So in package.json:
code :
"browser": {
   "localforage":"./src/lib/vendor/localforage/dist/localforage.min.js"
},

"browserify-shim": {
   "localforage":"localforage"
}
app.factory "localforage",-> require 'localforage'

Hope that helps I found the solution, that seems pretty trivial now, but as I found some similar subjects across the interweb, I'm gonna share it.
Run the additional command :
code :
ember install ember-localforage-adapter

may help you . This is not the most elegant solution but it does the job. By using ChangeDetectionStrategy.OnPush I can get the result I want.. but I will probably rework this later on and amongst other things I´ll update the solution to similar approach as @Nehal wrote.

it helps some times So, first of all, createInstance() returns a totally new & unrelated instance of localforage and reinitializes from scratch. So the new instance will try to settle on which driver to use, using the default driver preference order (IndexedDB, WebSQL, LocalStorage). The only thing that all localforage instances share is the available/defined drivers. So you can do something like this:
code :
localforage.defineDriver(window.cordovaSQLiteDriver).then(function() {
    window.appStorage = localforage.createInstance({
        version: 1.0,
        size: 52428800, // 50mb
        name: 'my-app-name',
        storeName: 'setup',
        driver: [
            window.cordovaSQLiteDriver._driver, // <-- prefer cordovaSQLiteDriver
            localforage.INDEXEDDB,
            localforage.WEBSQL,
            localforage.LOCALSTORAGE
        ]
        // OR instead of passing the `driver` option,
        // you can call `window.appStorage.setDriver()`
        // right after `createInstance()`
    });

    if (window.appStorage.driver() !== window.cordovaSQLiteDriver._driver) {
        console.warn('Not using cordovaSQLiteDriver before setItem.');
    }

    return appStorage.setItem('message', 'It worked!');
})
.then(function() {
    return appStorage.getItem('message');
})
.then(function(message){
    console.log(message);
    if (window.appStorage.driver() !== window.cordovaSQLiteDriver._driver) {
        console.warn('Not using cordovaSQLiteDriver after setItem.');
    }
});

Javascript, localForage, passing array between object literals with getter

I hope this helps . I've got the following object literals where I'm trying to pass a todoList array between a store object (using localForage) and a view object. , the first method should be like this
code :
get todoList() {
    const todoList = [];
    return this.todos.iterate((value,id) =>{
        let item = { id, title: value.title};
        if (value.prioritized === true) {
            todoList.unshift(item);
        } else {
            todoList.push(item);
        }
    }).then(() => {
        console.log('Got todo list');
        return todoList
    }).catch((err) => {
        console.log(`There was an error: ${err}`);
    });
},
displayTodos() {
    store.todoList.then(arr=> arr.forEach((item) => {
        console.log(item.title);
    }))
}
