wish of those help I'm not sure if you can send post parameters and JSON at the same time, since the JSON string already will be the content of the request body. You could try sending the query parameters as part of the URL, and create a regular StringEntity for your JSON:
code :
String jsonString = createMyJsonString();
HttpPost post = new HttpPost(urlWithQueryParams);
post.setHeader("Content-Type", "application/json");
post.setEntity(new StringEntity(jsonString,"UTF-8"));

it fixes the issue You don't need fromReader, AsyncStream already has it. So, you can do something like this:
code :
val result: Future[Array[Byte]] = response
  .flatMap { resp =>
    AsyncStream.fromReader(resp.reader)
      .foldLeft(Buf.Empty){ _ concat _ }
      .map(Buf.ByteArray.Owned.extract)
  }

will help you I have updated your example to work with the last version of Finch: "com.github.finagle" %% "finch-core" % "0.15.1" and also Scala 2.12
the build.sbt file:
code :
name := "hello-finch"

version := "1.0"

scalaVersion := "2.12.2"

mainClass in (Compile, run) := Some("example.HelloWorld")

libraryDependencies ++= Seq(
  "com.github.finagle" %% "finch-core" % "0.15.1"
)
package example

import io.finch._
import com.twitter.finagle.Http
import com.twitter.util.Await

object HelloWorld extends App {
  val api: Endpoint[String] = get("hello") { Ok("Hello, World!") }
  Await.ready(Http.server.serve(":8080", api.toServiceAs[Text.Plain]))
}

With these it helps You just need to map the response of your API call. Something like this
code :
const response = [{
    item_id: 1,
    item_name: 'Item 1'
}, {
    item_id: 2,
    item_name: 'Item 2'
}];

const mappedResponse = response.map(item => ({
   id: item.item_id,
   name: item.item_name
}));

console.log(mappedResponse);

Hope that helps Header!
If I understand your question, you have something that you are going to pass with every single request. That means if you want to support safe requests like GET and HEAD, you only have two choices: The HTTP headers or the URL (typically via query parameters).
