wish helps you It looks like your string may be Base64 encoded, in which case you would use this to convert it to bytes:
code :
Dim report As Byte() = Convert.FromBase64String(reportString)

Hope this helps Use base 64. Signatures consist of random bytes; not all random bytes do however represent a valid character when decoded.
Basically you should only decode strings that were previously encoded.

it should still fix some issue So i started with a message as a string, turned it into a byte array and printed it, I've now lost the original string but have the string output of the byte array. I want my string back. (don't ask me why i did this or how... I didn't really, this is just for illustration purposes). , Well, that was a fun exercise, if a little pointless:
code :
s := "WAT"

// Output as bytes
b := []byte(s)
bs := fmt.Sprintf("%v", b)

// Read bytes
var bb []byte
for _, ps := range strings.Split(strings.Trim(bs, "[]"), " ") {
    pi,_ := strconv.Atoi(ps)
    bb = append(bb,byte(pi))
}

// Print result
fmt.Printf("%s -> %s -> %s",s,bs,bb)

I think the issue was by ths following , bytes.Buffer is what you need. It can convert a byte slice to an io.Reader/io.Writer:
code :
buf := bytes.NewBuffer([]bytes{...})
s, err := ioutil.ReadAll(r)

this one helps. You have to de-serialize it; other than that there is no way to judge weather the array is proto byte array or not.
